Bali International Convention Centre – The Westin Resort
Bali International Convention Centre (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali has been selected as the conference venue. It is located 30 kilometers from Denpasar and 10 kilometers from the Ngurah Rai International Airport.

BICC provides world-class facilities for convention centre with 2,500 seats and an auditorium with seating for 506 attendees, eight additional function rooms. Some of the centre’s outstanding capabilities include a fully integrated satellite, telecommunications and media systems, professional in house staging simultaneous multi-lingual translation and state-of-the art audio visual and presentation facilities.

The centre is within walking distance of the hearts of Bali’s Exclusive Nusa Dua resort area, such as luxury hotels, fantastic shopping spots, entertainment facilities, restaurants, a championship golf course and a host of other recreational facilities. PASSPORT AND VISA

Passport must be valid for minimum six months. Visa on arrival new policy will start on February 1st 2004. Visitors from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, United Arab Emirate, U.K, U.S., are eligible for visa on arrival.
No visa is required for Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Other countries should obtain visa prior arrival at the Indonesian Embassy closest to their region.
 

CUSTOMS

Customs allows on entry per adult, a maximum of one liter of alcoholic liquor, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco and reasonable amount of perfume per adult.
 

AIRPORT TAX

An airport departure tax of Rp 100,000 is levied by the airport authority for travelers on international flights and Rp 30,000 for domestic flights. The tax must be paid in Rupiah.
 

GREETING SERVICE AT THE AIRPORT

For delegate who arrives after these dates and require special assistance, please inform the IICC 2007 Secretariat; otherwise delegate could proceed to the seminar venue and official hotel by airport taxi.
 

TRANSPORTATION

A shuttle service operates between the other two hotels and BICC every 30 minutes at cost US $ 5.00 per person. Taxi can be rented through the hotel concierge.

It will take 20 – 30 minutes from airport to the Westin Hotel.
 

BUSINESS HOURS

• Government offices open at 8 am every day except Saturday & Sunday. Monday to Thursday they are open to around 3 pm, Fridays to 11.30 am.
• Shops in Denpasar and other towns are close in the afternoons for a siesta (usually 1 pm to 6 pm) and re-open in the evening until 9 pm. In the tourist area, they generally open all afternoon.
• Banks are open from 8 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday.
 

CLIMATE

The average temperature in Bali in June is between 26° C (78° F) - 29º C (85° F) and the relative humidity is about 85%. There is comparatively little difference between the daytime and night time temperatures.

CURRENCY

Only Rupiah (Indonesian currency) is acceptable at regular stores and restaurants. Certain foreign currencies and major credit cards are accepted by most hotels, restaurants and souvenirs shops.

The exchange rate for 1 US$ is Rp 9,100 (as per February 1, 2007).
 

TRAVELLER CHECKS AND CREDIT CARD

Travelers’ checks are accepted by leading banks and hotels in principal cities. The use of travelers’ checks in Indonesia is as popular as in any other countries. Diners Club and American Express, Visa and Master Card are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, restaurants and night clubs. According to the Indonesian banking regulations, payment by credit cards should be charged in local currency.
 

ELECTRICITY

The electricity used in Indonesia is 220 volt at 50 cycles.
 

SHOPPING

• Main tourist roads are often lined with shops and stalls selling crafts of all types. Ubud (25 km north of Denpasar) and the surrounding villages of Pengosekan, Mas and Batuan are breeding grounds for arts, ranging from 'wayang style' paintings, polished wood carvings and antiques to traditional Balinese carvings made from volcanic pumice.
• For those who don't like to wander too far from the beach, Kuta and Legian have more modern shopping areas.
 

DANCE AND DRAMA

• Performances form an important part of nearly every ritual on Bali. Ubud offers classical dances (Legong, Topeng, Gabor, etc.) held in princely mansion and neighborhood halls.
• The Art Centre shows at 6 pm daily in Denpasar are the best for Kecak
• The venues at Singapadu and Batubulan are excellent for Barong and Keris.
